Service Standards

SSHRC has set service standards for the timely delivery of its funding opportunities for the following six transactions:

SSHRC service standards apply to all Transfer Payment Programs administered by SSHRC.

Achieving these service standards is a shared responsibility between applicants / funding recipients and SSHRC. Applicants / funding recipients must submit all required documentation in accordance with the funding opportunity’s guidelines and within SSHRC’s deadlines.

The following service standards apply only under normal circumstances (i.e., business-as-usual operating times) and exclude special circumstances such as holidays, natural disasters, information technology system outages and similar events outside of SSHRC’s control.

Special and joint initiatives are not subject to the following service standards.

Acknowledgement of receipt of application

SSHRC will send, within 15 business days of the relevant competition deadline, an acknowledgement to applicants that their application has been received. SSHRC aims to meet this service standard 90% of the time.

Notification of competition results

To institutions

For applications submitted through SSHRC eligible institutions, SSHRC will release the competition results to institutions on or before the last day of the month specified for the relevant competition.

SSHRC aims to meet this service standard 95% of the time.

To applicants

For applications submitted through SSHRC eligible institutions, SSHRC will release the results to applicants within 30 business days of providing notification to institutions.

For applications submitted directly to SSHRC, SSHRC will release the results to applicants on or before the last day of the month specified for the relevant competition.

SSHRC aims to meet these service standards 90% of the time.

Exceptions: These service standards exclude funding opportunity competitions that are pending a federal budget announcement.

Direct deposit payment initiation

The following service standards apply to payments made by SSHRC directly to the person (not organization) receiving funding.

Test payment

SSHRC will process a funding recipient’s test direct deposit payment within 10 business days of receiving all required documentation as per the relevant Award Holder’s Guide.

First payment

SSHRC will process a funding recipient’s first direct deposit payment within seven business days of receiving confirmation of a successful test payment.

SSHRC aims to meet these service standards 90% of the time.

Special considerations: These service standards are dependent on the funding recipient’s eligibility to receive funds. Targeted internal system interruptions are required for financial management and reporting purposes. Payment requests received during such interruptions are not subject to these standards.

Subsequent payments

The following service standard applies to payments made by SSHRC directly to the person (not organization) receiving funding.

SSHRC will process a funding recipient’s subsequent payment within 10 business days of receiving the required documentation as per the relevant Award Holder’s Guide.

SSHRC aims to meet this service standard 90% of the time.

Special considerations: This service standard is dependent on the funding recipient’s eligibility to receive funds. Targeted internal system interruptions are required for financial management and reporting purposes. Payment requests received during such interruptions are not subject to these standards.

Funding transfers to administering institutions

SSHRC will process funding transfers to administering institutions (global payment) within two business days of the scheduled transfer date identified on the payment schedule.

SSHRC aims to meet this standard 90% of the time.

Response to Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests

The legislated timeframe for responding to an ATIP request is 30 days, or such extensions as permitted by law.

SSHRC aims to meet this service standard 100% of the time.
